Determine the reason when an Application is Not Responding

It doesn’t feel good when an application hangs, isn’t it? There are situations when we are working on our system and doing some important work but suddenly we notice that the application we are working hangs and do not respond well.
There are many reasons why an application hangs like insufficient memory available for the process to execute or the busy processor that is currently working on some other tasks. Wouldn’t it be great if we get to know the actual reason why an application is freezing? But finding it out is not easy so we have a tool called WhatIsHang that is developed by Nirsoft.

WhatIsHang lets you know why a certain application is hanging in the background knowing which you can either terminate the program or the reason for its hang. This utility tries to detect the software or process that is currently hung, and displays some information that may allow you to sort out and understand what exactly is at the root of such unexpected behaviour.
The tool is designed to work great on Windows but as of now it is developed for 32-bit systems and not 64-bit Windows OS. However, if the application hung is 32-bit running in 64-bit Windows, you can still use it.
It would be in the following situations when this tool would not be able to detect:
•    Programs without any user interface
•    Program waiting for a thread which is waiting for another that is in a deadlock situation.
•    When the entire system hangs.

Access Facebook in Office with Facebook Excel

Be it at office, school or college Facebook is blocked in many organizations and there is not much that we can do to access it. While organizations block these social networking websites so that their employees do not engage in these activities and waste time but blocking the websites should be up to some extent as it can help them to reduce pressure and gain more productivity.
With the launch of Facebook Excel also called as Excelbook you can access your Facebook account while at office stealthily and fool your boss around. The application is exactly similar to the MS Excel and it seems that you are working on the Excel spreadsheet but in reality you would be checking your news feeds and other things of FB.

You just need to visit a web service called Hardlywork, provide your FB login credentials and allow the app to access your profile. The Facebook excel will present instantly before you where you can check all your activities.

Moreover, the Excel is dynamic in nature as you can search friends, look at pictures and videos, tag friends in pictures and check your news feed. Hovering the mouse over certain items in the sheet also shows you profile picture.
Isn’t it a great way to both access your profile at office and fool your boss.

Find when your USB device was last Accessed

If you work on a shared system be at your work or at home, you must have experience when you want to know if your pen drive was used secretly by anyone in your absence or not. This was the same case with one of our readers who wanted to find out if there is any way to find out if the data in his USB drive was accessed by someone or not.
If this is the same case with you then you must have noted by now that it is somewhat difficult to determine the time but with the help of some third party tools we can determine that. On researching a method to do that, I came across a tool called USBDeview which can help to achieve our objective.

USBDeview is a small app using which we can get to know the details of all the USB drives that are either connected the system or previously were. For each USB device, exteneded information is displayed: Device name/description, device type, serial number (for mass storage devices), the date/time that device was added, VendorID, ProductID, and more.
USBDeview also allows you to uninstall USB devices that you previously used, disconnect USB devices that are currently connected to your computer, as well as to disable and enable USB devices. Installing the tool is very simple as you just need to download and run it which will actually show the details of the drive connected.

The app will surely help you in determining the last time your USB was accessed.

Flashmirrors let you upload file to multiple File Sharing services simultaneously

There are lot many file sharing services available like Rapidshare, MegaUpload etc that deciding where to upload a file becomes bit tedious. While most of these services are free, some charge fees for their usage thus deciding between which service to use becomes really important.
Moreover it’s not necessary that all these services work great, some are extremely slow or some have low hosting space. So in case you are also worried where to upload a file and where not then to help your this task easier we have a free web service called FlashMirrors.

sWhat FlashMirrors does is, it uploads the file browsed by you and shares the file with at least 20 other file sharing websites. After you upload the file, the max upload size for each service is also showed beneath the service name that gets listed for you to know that where did your file get uploaded.
After the successful upload the uploaded file is provided with a download link that can be used for downloading the same file again. The link will be provided for all the websites that uploaded the file.
FlashMirrors looks like a great site to share a file with many others file sharing services.
